From Energy-Experts

Jump to: navigation, search

This is the wiki (=anyone can edit it)for the Claverton Energy Group - the main site for Claverton is at http://www.claverton-energy.com

This is the wiki space of a group of energy experts including power station owners, operators, economists, scientists, engineers, technology developers, academics and policy makers.

Members are keen to understand and debate the various energy options and opportunities open to us as individuals and as a society and above all to inject some technical reality into a vitally important subject that seems to be the domain of discussion of journalists, pundits and politicians who clearly do not have any deep technical or economic understanding of the issues.

Broadly, we hope to define a set of achievable actions and policies that, if followed, would lead to a sustainable energy system which will be presented to government and the public We do this by four main means:

1. An email list, for sharing email postings, see main site front page - http://claverton-energy.com

2. Getting together. This happened for the first time in February 2007 in Bath and there have been several other well attended conferences.

3. The main site

4. This wiki

We hope you find the pages of interest and will want to participate in the exchange of information and views.

Conferences

Four Conferences have been organised so far, with the kind support of Wessex Water in Bath who have allowed the group to use its Claverton Down Headquarters.

Claverton Statement and Book

A sub-set of users hope to define a set of broadly achievable actions and policies that, if followed, would lead to a sustainable energy system which will be presented to government and the public.

This activity is progressed by means of the Yahoo discussions, conferences, and the production and development of the Claverton Statement and the Claverton Book etc. A summary of the constantly evolving Consensus will be at: Claverton Statement

It is important to note, that as a whole the group has no view - the Claverton Statement consensus is merely the collected majority views of a subset - there are many dissenters.

Energypedia Archive

Energypedia functions as an archive of useful energy related material which has / can be put up by Claverton members - mainly large file uploads that cannot easily be mailed via the related Yahoo Group with its 1 MB limitation. You can look for specific information using the search box on the left.

Information about this wiki

The wiki has a linked, dendritic structure that will allow logical extension from broad principles to technical details. All users can edit the pages by clicking the "edit" tab at the top of each page. Feel free to edit, but at the same time, keep it clean. This means that if you disagree with one line on a page, rather than writing a 1000 word critique on that page, put a link called [discuss] next to that line, and create a separate page for your critique. If it is consensual that the line needs changing, it will be changed as a result.
